Statistical procedures and inference in Eviews
Data Procedures and Graphics
Course Outline
Eviews is a popular and comprehensive data analysis package containing a multitude of features designed to facilitate the execution of a wide range of statistical analyses. It was developed for the analysis of data in the social sciences and it is well suited to analyze data from surveys and database. This course provides an introductory training in Eviews and how to carry out standard statistical procedures in Eviews using its friendly interface.
Course Objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize participants with the basic features of Eviews. On completing the course, trainees will have covered the following through a combination of presentation and practical sessions:
The Eviews environment: Opening and exploring files, looking at labels, editing and entering data.
Descriptive analysis: Conducting the required descriptive statistics.
Data manipulation: computing new variables, recoding, keeping and dropping, saving.
Eviews graphics: help and support resources.
Data Analysis using Eviews
Prerequisites
No previous experience with Eviews is required for the course, as it will introduce participants to the very basics of using Eviews. However, familiarity with statistical analyses and some experience of Microsoft windows and standard windows-based office productivity software such as word processing and spreadsheets would be beneficial.
Suitable for
The course is intended for researchers who intend to use Eviews as a regular tool in their work. This can be to help manage data, especially large data sets, and as a statistical analysis tool. This course is therefore suitable for anyone who likes to depend on Eviews as a day-to-day tool in their work.
Course duration
3 days (Four hours for each day)
Expected Outcomes
At the end of this training the trainees should be able to use Eviews for data entry, producing summary statistics. In addition, Conducting the required statistical tests, statistical analyses, and Managing output in Eviews. Participants will have sufficient knowledge of Eviews to be able to work independently to produce other analyses.
